This passion project was inspired by my own past hobby of pottery making. My goal with this project was to explore traditional type and industrial design, and merge the historic craft of ceramics with a twist of modern branding. I love a pun, and played on the word 'kiln' (used to fire ceramics) and 'kinfolk' to create the business name. Kinfolk feels like a warm, homey word, which is a common theme in this brand identity.
Industrial, traditional badges and typography brought into modern day. 20th century Scandinavian-inspired photographs to complement the brand designs and create a warm, hygge vibe. The aesthetic goal is to show the tradition of ceramic making and invite the viewer to add warmth to their home with the ceramic products.
